Claudia Black Young Adult Center Redesign

Mediaura recently launched the new website for the Claudia Black Young Adult Center. The Claudia Black Young Adult Center provides intensive, experientially based inpatient treatment specifically tailored to young adults ages 18 to 26 who are struggling with unresolved emotional trauma, addictions, or who have a dual diagnosis.

Developing A Smooth Transition

With other agencies, website redesigns can be a stressful process. In fact, after the typical website redesign, a company’s marketing department may find the experience so tedious that they’d happily wait another five years before attempting it again. The problem arises when digital agencies fail to invest the time into learning about their client and their unique industry. Not all website redesign needs are the same, and they shouldn’t be. Mediaura devotes a great deal of time researching the client, auditing a client’s top-tier competitors, and analyzing the client’s business in order to develop an informed blueprint for what needs to be done in order to improve not only the appearance but the functionality of the website overall.

Mediaura’s Redesign

This innovative treatment center was looking for a new website, one that would reflect its groundbreaking approach to treatment through the utilization of cutting-edge digital practices. The client was seeking a digital property that would highlight and engage users on the website by the use of a clean, concise, and modern design.

Their old website suffered under weak calls-to-action, content-heavy messaging, and strong colors throughout the design that detracted from the brand message.

Although the functionality of the website was in place (SEO elements, solid programming, infrastructure), the design itself needed some refinement. The new website needed to be designed in such a way as to facilitate conversions with a cleaner, mobile-friendly aesthetic.

Goals Of The New Design

As I said above, Mediaura worked closely with the Claudia Black Young Adult Center to better understand their needs and that of their audience. This in-depth process saved a great deal of time in the end, streamlining the development all-around. Instead of being plagued with a large amount of back-and-forth between the design team and the client, Mediaura was able to develop a website that addressed the issues identified in the former property while incorporating the new goals set forth by the client.

Challenges In The Redesign

The design of a website is important because it affects how quickly users are able to find what they are looking for. If the user finds the experience difficult or becomes frustrated, they will leave and try a competitor, resulting in a lost opportunity for a lead or conversion. Good website design will be easy to understand and navigate, it will help potential customers find what they need, and it will provide strong calls-to-action in order to take them one step closer to making a sale or getting in touch.

With this redesign Mediaura needed to:

  • Transition the existing content-heavy design into a more user-friendly aesthetic that followed current best practices for both desktop and mobile.
  • Utilize the color palette in a cohesive manner, while leveraging neutrals to accentuate messaging and calls-to-action for the viewer.
  • Improve user navigation.
  • Increase user conversion and engagement rates – especially on mobile.
  • Leverage the latest SEO best practices throughout the design in terms of programming, design, and content.

Everyone knows that a website has to look good, but it’s also important to keep in mind that usability is just as important. The user experience should never be sacrificed just for the sake of appearance. Good website design will immediately create trust while guiding the visitor to take action.

Site navigation should always be consistent and logical throughout the design and every element on a page needs to have a purpose. You have seconds to make an impression and if the viewer can’t make sense of your design, they are going to leave.

With all of these items (and a great many more) in mind, we developed a new website for the Claudia Black Young Adult Center:

Website Design

While you may view the website in its entirety here, there are some key elements worth pointing out.

The above-the-fold area of the new design engages the user through a concise branding message, call-to-action, and immediate area for conversion. The neutrals of the palette are contrasted against the stronger colors to highlight important messages throughout the design. The user is also provided with various methods to contact the facility, along with secondary social media platform links, therefore providing the viewer with several ways to build a relationship with the Claudia Black Young Adult Center.

Website Design

The interior pages were designed to make apparent what is the main content on a page and what is secondary. The user is able to find the information they are looking for quickly and to navigate throughout the website with ease. The visuals incorporated throughout the design also reinforce the messaging without detracting from the information on the page.

Website Redesign

Finally, while the previous design was reactive to mobile, it was as “mobile-friendly” as it could have been. Last year, mobile and tablet internet usage surpassed desktop for the first time – up to 67% of people are now visiting websites with smaller screens. Mobile browser usage is also highest among young adults ages 18-26, which is the target audience for the Claudia Black Young Adult Center. Therefore it was imperative that our new design be easily accessible via mobile.

Mobile Web Design

Of course, there is more to website design than just looks, such as cross-platform compatibility, and programming – those are things that aren’t seen by the website user but have been revamped on this website redesign as well. These ingredients result in faster load time, consistent web presence with our hosting solution (no bandwidth issues), and top-of-the-line security for the website itself.
